OK, so if you're reading this, I can guess either of the following: 1) You are one of my five or so watchers and had the urge to check out the first thing I've submitted IN MONTHS, 2) You randomly saw this on the front page under “newest” and thought “What is this shit?”, 3) I've commissioned you to draw the character I'm going to describe in this writing, or 4) (the most likely) I linked this to you because you're my friend and I want you to be absolutely sure you know how retarded I can get when it comes to my thoughts on this character.  Well, if you're either 1 or 2, I suggest you just close out this window and go watch Youtube or something.  I don't want you to waste 20 minutes of your life at the end of which asking “Was this guy high when he wrote this?”.  If you're # 3, then I welcome you to this detailed paper designed to help you draw this guy.  And if you're #4, well, just try not to bang your head like a drinking bird nailed to a wall.

Alright, so if you're reading this far, I guess you know what you're getting yourself into.  So, let's begin with the basic of basics.

NOTE: WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ IS DISCUSSED IN TERMS OF THE BOOK I AM WRITING.  I DO NOT ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN REALITY THAT THIS IS WHAT A SERAN IS, BUT RATHER, WHAT A SERAN IS IN MY BOOK.  SO DO THINK OF ME AS A LITTLE MORE SANE THAN YOUR PRECONCEIVED NOTION. *If you are here ONLY for the physical description, feel free to skip through this part, although you are most welcome to read it if you're curious as to WHAT this character is*

Right, now that those little stats and disclaimer are out of the way, onward to the description which should (hopefully) make some sense of them.

Kiru Sarken is a Draakon Seran, a humanoid with dominantly draconic features, particularly the face, tail and claws; however, he looks distinctively human in form and muscle structure aside from this.

So, what's a Draakon Seran exactly?  It's a type of Seran.

...wait, that didn't really go anywhere did it, perhaps a better question is: What's a Seran?

A Seran is basically a human who has some sort of link between his soul and body.  This classifies...well...any human as being a Seran, because if you didn't have that link, you'd just be a literal immobile meat bag.  It's that link that gives us, as humans, sentience. The stronger the link, the stronger certain traits show up depending on the individual.  For example: one person might have an affinity for music whereas another might have one for being a leader.  These traits are based off of this link between mind and body.  In rare cases, there are what we call “prodigies” who have such a talent, that it's almost (ironically) inhuman. Though, there are times in which I find myself calling people who can snipe me clear across the map right from my spawn point in Team Fortress 2 inhuman.

Anyways, so what?  If everyone's a Seran, what makes a Draakon Seran so different?  Well, Draakon Seran are rare cases of individuals who have managed a near complete link to their soul.  This link is exceptionally rare, but in the time in which Kiru's own story takes place, it's only somewhat uncommon.  The strength of the link causes a physical manifestation in the individual to change shape into this form.  Surprisingly, the physical shift only happens in male humans.  This is because [OMG SPOILER, NOT DISCUSSING].  Females who attain this level of soul link obtain the abilities of a Draakon Seran without the”unfavorable” shape shift into a "demi-dragon".

The mind-body connection unlocks some sort of physical prowess in a Draakon Seran, to the point where it is not NORMALLY humanly possible.  Some Draakons can dodge projectiles moving faster than 2000 meters per second without even trying whereas some can perform a difficult or “impossible” medical procedure with such prowess, that those watching would have to watch the procedure again on tape at 1500 frames per second to see what the hell actually happened.  In a sense, Draakons “bend” what is considered possible to make more difficult things work.  In exceptionally rare cases, the manipulation of transcendent forces (light and darkness) can be present.  Example: making concentrations of light which explode and blind those within a 30 meter radius or creating “physical” objects out of dark matter.

BUT, there are limits to what a Draakon can accomplish.  If a Seran goes beyond what his soul-body connection can muster, the line between the two snaps.  Basically, the Seran then becomes a husk.  When this connection is severed, the individual's soul literally shatters.  That's it: no after-life, no peace, just gone.  It's a fate worse than death, because it is true oblivion.  Meanwhile, your body and mind and everything else remains alive, but no one is home, metaphorically speaking.  That's the basic gist of what a Seran is, but the point of this was to describe my avatar and character.  So!  Back to business!

END DRAAKON SERAN EXPLANATION AND BEGIN PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Like I said, Kiru is a Draakon Seran.  So he's draconic, but how so?  Let's take care of the big details first.  Like most Draakons, he has short fur ala a short haired tabby cat, but it is a lot stiffer in nature, and not very fluffy.  His is a solid, reflective silver while his skin is a little darker and not as shiny (See also: Light gray).  Also, like I mentioned in the stats, he's 6'6” with a slightly muscled athletic build.  Now, to define this, I'll provide a mental image for you, because writers are good at that sort of thing.  Imagine a horizontal line with at the left side being a normal athletic (fit) build and on the right side being a Schwarzeneggerian build.  Now, perhaps, there is a slider between the two, with a percentile marking where you are.  Moving towards the right side raises the percent to a maximum of 100 and moving it to the left decreases it to a minimum of 0.  Kiru is at about 17%.

Whew, with that extended metaphor having served its purpose, let's move on.

Kiru's hands have 5 digits each, just like a human.  The only real significant observation is that instead of fingernails, he has ebony claws on each of his digits about 7/8th of an inch long.  Like wise, his feet (which are plantigrade or human-footed) have five digits each and also have the ebony claws.

Another obvious characteristic is, of course, his tail.  It is cylindrical in nature, coning to a tip.  At the joint where it is attached to the pelvis, the muscular tail has a diameter of about 2 and 3/4th inches.  It is about 4 feet in length, meaning it somewhat drags if it isn't being lifted up while walking.  Lastly, it is covered in the same fur and skin, just as the rest of his body.  Though, it might look slightly un-groomed due to all the weathering it gets.

I've saved the most detailed for last: his head and face.

At first glance, it is noticeably draconic and alien (as if the silver fur on it was not indicator enough) with an elongated snout, two faint parallel slits for nostrils, and somewhat of an overbite.  His palatine bone is slightly larger than his mandible and extends about 1/16th of an inch forward of it.  This makes one canine on each side of his upper mouth visible when his mouth is closed, but it doesn't make him look like a walrus.  His teeth are an ivory white and have structure UNLIKE the carnivorous dragons of the Dungeons and Dragons universe, but more omnivore with a slight leniency to carnivorous, like the mouth of a dog combined with that of a human.  The gums, tongue, and inside of the mouth are a dark gray, like a faded black.  He has “lips” in the sense of a dog having them.  With them he's able to expose his teeth in a hiss, growl, sneer, smile, etc.  Lastly, he does have cheeks, but on his right cheek, he has a trio of parallel scars next to each other.  They look like self-made claw marks...[sarcasm]Did I also mention he likes to listen to Linkin Park and Fallout Boy?[/sarcasm]

Now, his eyes are rather interesting.  They are similar to a human, but there are differences.  The iris (the color part of the eye) is a deep blue, unlike the common blue seen normally.  Also, the pupil (the black part of the eye) is an “S”-shape which splits the iris, but still has a concentrated dot in the center of the eye. But the most peculiar thing about them is this: they spin in a synced fashion.  When Kiru is relaxed, they spin at a slow, predictable pace.  In a heightened sense of emotion, they spin rapidly, stopping at random intervals for a very short time.  In a state of concentration or deep thought, the pupils stop spinning, rotating once or twice every thirty seconds or so.  Lastly, Kiru causes his irises to glow to give social cues or when he feels threatened or angry.

He does have hair, which is a light blue, and it's worth mentioning that, apart from his eyes, his hair is the only other physical feature which isn't a form of black or white.  It is long, flowing slightly past his shoulders.  Its structure is best described as being straight and quill-like, but it still has some sort of flexibility.  Normally, his bangs get in the way of his vision, so he wears a black bandanna to keep his hair from getting in his face.  He also has hair as his eyebrows, which are short but fine, and a small patch of hair under his chin, forming a sort of goatee.

From the back of his head protrude two ebony, parallel horns.  They curve slightly downwards and are roughly the length of 10 inches each.  Near the back and “end” of his cheeks where the jawbone ends, the fur on both sides flares into “jagged” edges.  They aren't like spikes, but they give him a somewhat rugged and/or scruffy look.

And this finishes his physical traits.  Now, of course he wears clothes; he's too squishy to not have SOMETHING.  So I shall go over them in detail now.

The first is the headband, which I described earlier.  Unbound, it's roughly six feet in length and about an inch in width.  He ties it around his forehead, letting the ends flow freely behind him.  They trail behind him up to the middle of his torso.

He wears a sleeveless white undershirt which is semi-tight, showing some definition and a heavy, navy blue trench coat.  But this trench coat is not a common, symmetrical one.  It has no right sleeve and is also short on the right side, only going past his waist slightly.  As it moves to the left side, the length gradually increases up to slightly past his knees at the center of the coat.  The left sleeve is full and completely covers the left arm.  On the coat itself are designs made by three thin white lines which wrap around the coat.  He also wears two black, fingerless gloves.  A black strap zig-zags and wraps around his right arm, beginning at the coat and ending at the glove.  Lastly, around his neck he wears a pendant of two overlapping 4-pointed stars; one white and one black hung on a chain-link necklace with the white star being on the top.  (Note: the fabric of the gloves and trench coat is the same, being durable and leather-like in both texture and stiffness.)

On his lower body, he wears navy blue pants with a fabric similar to that of the trench coat.  The white stripes which are present on the coat are also present on the pants as well.  They are fairly loose, and have little tightness around his legs.  The tail is able to move freely through them.   They also have several pockets which are barely visible to all except the keenest observer.  Because they are loose, Kiru needs a belt to hold them up, so he wears a black-trimmed navy blue belt with a silver buckle.  The pants are tucked into a pair of semi-bulky boots which rise up to a quarter of his calves.  They have a durable worn look to them, making their black unreflective and dull.  They are not bound by laces, but instead buckled by one belt each, similar to the belt around his waist.
